Council and Commission Study Sessions

The goal of the study sessions is to solicit input from the City’s local elected officials throughout the planning process. These study sessions will include time for public comment and questions.

Planning Commission Meeting #1: Draft Alternatives – Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 6:30 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall
The Planning Commission reviewed and discussed the conceptual land use and circulation alternatives for the project.

City Council Meeting #1: Draft Alternatives – Monday, February 22, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall
The City Council reviewed and discussed the conceptual land use and circulation alternatives for the project. Each alternative includes various elements, including land use distribution, type and intensity of development, urban design, open space, streetscape design, and circulation.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission Study Session #1: Confirm Draft Preferred Alternative – Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission provided feedback on the bicycle and pedestrian components of the Draft Preferred Alternative as reviewed by the community and CAC.

Council Meeting: Comparative Assessment – Monday, June 5, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall
At this meeting, the City Council reviewed a comparative assessment that  evaluated and compared the land use, environmental, and economic impacts of the three alignment alternatives being considered by the California High-Speed Rail Authority. The assessment can be found under the Documents page of this website.

Council and Commission Study Session #2: Draft Preferred Alternative and Guiding Principles – Date and Location TBD
At this joint meeting, the City Council and Planning Commission will provide feedback on the Draft Preferred Alternative and Guiding Principles. The goal of this meeting is to ensure the Draft Preferred Alternative is adequate to move forward into further analysis, Specific Plan preparation, and EIR preparation.

Council and Commission Study Session #3: Downtown Gilroy Specific Plan Amendment – Date and Location TBD
At this joint meeting, the City Council and Planning Commission will review the Public Review Draft Downtown Gilroy Station Area Plan, provide feedback, and authorize circulation of the Plan for public review and adoption hearings.
